Be Inspired Workshop

I have mentioned this before ...who has been my inspiration? Hands down...my son was the beginning of my inspiration! I was not born with a camera in my hand which means a few things. I do not have decades of experience and I don't know film inside and out. It also means my ideas are fresh...not based upon "teaching" and all I know is digital and I know it well! I will admit, I have always LOVED technology. Learning my camera inside and out was a breeze for me, from there I just began capturing what inspires me about people...personality, mood and relationships!

There are several other photographer's who's work I admire. At the top of that list would be Audrey Woulard...another mom...not born with a camera in her hand. Chances are if you have ever read any child or parenting magazines, you have seen her work. She also uses natural light, on location. She may even be the innovator of the brilliant concept, although I'm not sure.

So what's the point?!

I will have the rare opportunity to attend a hands on workshop in Chicago this fall by Audrey!

This is probably only exciting to me...but I had to share. I cannot wait!!

Sidewalk Days

I took a break from the kitchen remodel along with my son and husband tonight. We enjoyed the gorgeous weather downtown Duluth at Sidewalk Days. We indulged in Gyros & Mini Donuts, listened to music, chatted with people and looked at collector cars.

Senior Representative

Each year, one lucky senior from each Duluth/Superior area high school will be chosen to be a Senior Representative. The Senior Rep recieves a 3-4 hour session in multiple locations with multiple outfits as well as a great deal on prints. The chosen individual schedules their session in March or April of their Junior year to help set the photography trends for the year. Together we will try out brand new concepts, styles and locations. The Senior will then appear on Nicole Marie promotional materials throughout the year. A second, regular session, at no additional charge, is held for that Senior during the summer of their Junior/Senior year if he/she desires. To apply, please email info@nicolemarie.biz

Kitchen Chaos!

Oh boy, oh boy, where do I start?!

On a personal note, things are in a bit of chaos because of a kitchen remodel. Anyone who has been through one can sympathize living without a stove, sink, garbage disposal and dishwasher. Of course the sink we ordered will not be in for two weeks, and...well...the garbage disposal
and dishwasher are all connected to the sink plumbing! Lucky for us, we have had good weather for grilling our meals. We will appreciate the small things so much more after this project!

On a photography note, things are sailing along. Besides sessions and orders, I am working with a Graphic Designer on holiday and baby card templates. Aleyna has amazing talent and her business is growing rapidly! She will be revealing a new website soon which I will share with you when it is complete. In the meantime, if you are looking for a photo greeting card, we would be happy to custom design one for you.

Believe it or not, many of my clients have scheduled or inquired about fall sessions for holiday photos. My fall schedule through the end of November will fill up quickly so please call soon if you want holiday portraits. The lead times for my lab will be slightly longer during the holiday season. The deadline to order greeting cards for delivery by December 15th is November 30th.
